A User Friendly Handbook on Special Education Law, Policies and Practices

Posted by kentonseptsa on March 2, 2009 at 3:23 PM

A User Friendly Handbook on Special Education Law, Policies and
Practices in New York was created by the Special Education Task Force to
help families and educators gain the knowledge that they need to be able
to effectively support students with disabilities during their school
years. It includes information on the laws, regulations and policies
affecting special education programs and services.

The Special Education Task Force is comprised of over 200 parent
advocates, school district staff, attorneys, and other individuals who
specialize in Special Education Law, and work to ensure that children
with disabilities are educated in the least restrictive setting and
receive a free and appropriate education.
